These stories are based around the Characters and Conditions in the "Tales of the Parodyverse Website. This is a "Shared Universe", and new contributors are always welcome - but do it through the site, please.
The Tales of the Parodyverse website is found here.
Between 11-Sep-2004 and 09-Nov-2004, The Hooded Hood treated the members of the board to a 15-episode epic called "The Transworld Challenge". This was the story of a galaxy-wide race hosted by a creature called the Gamesmaster.
As a minor part of this story, mention was made of "green-skinned slave-girls". Naturally, given the testerone levels on the board, this rapidly got out of hand, and the Caphan (or Cephan or a number of other spellings, depending on who was writing) started to take a bigger part in the story and also started appearing in other places.
This, then, is the collective story of Deeela, Sayaana, Philaana, Noona, Odoola, Losiira, Luuma, Kaara and above all Miiri, nine Caphan slave-girls a very long way from home.
Readers who enjoy this story are informed that a sequel exists: Untold Tales of the Tenth Caphan".
Note: I have excerpted sections from the Transworld Challenge stories rather than reproducing them in full. The full "Transworld Challenge" storyline can be read at the Hooded Hood's archive site as linked above, and are very highly recommended.
As far as is possible I have arranged the stories and excerpts in order of continuity.
In which Dr Blargelslarch helps CrazySugarFreakBoy!, Goldeneyed and Shazara Pel escape from the Slimy Slaver Lovetoad, and unwittingly unleashes a terrible force on the Parodyverse.
In which our heroes are trapped in a lifepod with an undisclosed number of grateful scantily-clad slave-girls with little risk or rescue; Windows 98 is finally useful for something and Visionary says something extremely stupid.
In which Visionary manages to dig himself in even deeper.
In which Visionary wants to go to bed, and 9 scantily-clad slave-girls wish to help.
In which Shazara Pel seeks relief and the Caphans seek security.
In which the Caphans flee from the Gamesmaster's Gameship and arrive at their new home.
Note: I have tried to avoid micro-editing, but I have replaced "slave #5" with "Miiri".
In which Mr. Epitome faces Yo and comes second, then faces the Caphans and makes matters worse.
In which De Brown Streak attempts to liberate some slave-girls but misses a little bit.
In which Kerry investigates the advantages of nine live-in slave-girls, and Visionary contemplates some of the disadvantages.
In which the Elizabeth Dewdrop Sweetwater von Zemo fails to confront Visionary, The Shoggoth succeeds in confronting Visionary, and Kerry is so not the voice of reason.
In which the Visionary starts preparing for the Vina Drea, Miiri seeks help from Hallie and Yo, and Yo is being the wisest Legionary of all.
In which the Ebony and The Shoggoth do some market research on Frammisat Eight, and a slave becomes a slaver.
In which Visionary takes the Caphans shopping, we meet a man who knows the cost of everything, and Miiri knows the value of something.
In which a party is executed. And it's not Visionary...
Continuity Note: The second part of this story takes place at the Christmas Celebrations (see below).
In which Dancer adds to her collection of unsuitable men, and it is good to share.
In which Miiri does it her way.
In which we are introduced to the Island of Lemura, and nine Caphan Slave Girls try to fit in.
In which the Caphans visit Wilton Manor for Christmas.
In which we see the Caphan-related scenes posted by the other writers on the board as contributions to the general festivities.
(I have tried to avoid excerpting from these, so there are some non-Caphan scenes as well...)
The following items are not directly part of the Caphan Arc, but of passing interest none the less...
How Deeela, Sayaana, Philaana, Noona, Odoola, Losiira, Luuma, Kaara and Miiri got their names.
Well, I wanted to do some sort of story about how the Song of Visionary was fed into Caphan culture. I had a lot of individual scenes and ideas, but no coherent whole.
Then I watched Episode 2 of the new Dr Who. It was set in the far future and included the display of an "i-pod" (actually a jukebox) along with several misunderstandings about historical culture.
This got me thinking. So I redesigned the whole concept as a parody of the old O-Level English Literature examination Essays (which I am sure HH, Xander and Shep also remember). I had to study "Julius Caesar" (Shakespeare) and "She Stoops to Conquer" (Goldsmith). I am sure that were it not for these lessons I would never have seen a Shakespeare play ("Much Ado About Nothing" not withstanding).
hasn't made the jump from the Shoggoth's homepage yet but is listed here in hopes that one day it will.
