Mumphrey hrummphed and lifted his pocketwatch. “I’ll expect any representations and opinion you have on the direction we take submitted to me in person or writin’ by 9pm tomorrow,” he told the team. “My door is open. I want to know what each of you thinks, and I want to know whether you’ll abide by a majority decision no matter what it is. Then we’ll vote on what to do.” He looked carefully at each of the heroes round the table. “Think hard on this. What we decide tomorrow will decide the direction of this world for all time.”





The door to Sir Mumphrey's office opened with a crack.

The eccentric Englishman did not even jump.
"Yes?" he asked while looking over his paper.

"I don't need ta think hard Mumph. I'm in. It's as simple as that. I don't want to rule the world. Heck, I can't even get my own life in order. I can't even locate Natalia. But my point is I'm in. We can't let those turkies do this!"

"And what if we decide to be branded and show that we are not the threat they have labled us as?"

Trickshot, for once, was silent. He looked deep into the older man's eyes for a long moment then said, "No."

"You would break from the Legion if we decide to turn ourselves in for branding, what?"


Trickshot slammed his fist on the oak desk.
"We just can't. No way! I would follow you anywhere Sir Mumph but not there. NOT THERE! Yes I would break away and build up my oun resistance. We may go down figh'n but that's how I feel."
"I will count your opinion then Mr. Bastion. Thank you for shareing it with me."

"What you got planned Mumph?"

"In good time my friend. In good time."

"Heh. Well you old sly Brit. Till then. I'm headin' back to the gym."
Trickshot passed Yuki on her way into Mumph's office.
"A stud like me has to work at lookin' good."
