Something I’ve intended to get around to for a while (and which I’d like to at least make a stab at before going on this long-prophesied leave of absence from the board – I feel like an opera singer coming back for “just one last performance” every two days) was to do a “Lair Legion – Year One” series. I could maybe get part one done before I go? I’m working on Visionary’s timeline of 26th October 1999, which tries to reconcile what happened back then and concentrates on the posters and characters who stuck around after the Parodyverse transferred from the AMB to the BZL. That timeline assumes that Jarvis, Lisa, NTU-150, and spiffy were founders of the League of Regulars which would become the Lair Legion. I see Dark Knight, Visionary, Zemo, Finny, the Man Who Wasn’t There, and possibly the Grim Reaper also featuring prominently in the first chapter. I’ll work other people in as we go one through Year One – HV, Banjoooo, Yo, Space Ghost, Starseed, Donar, and DarkHwk as feature characters, but as I say I’ll try and give even the newest posters a mention and ideally a scene somehow. Anyway, there are a few things I need to have a go at this. Feel free to e-mail me any info you’d like to keep as a surprise until the story’s written: 1. The consent of the board. 2. A Fin Fang Foom timeline. My understanding is that (a) a Makluan ship crashed on Earth, with Finny, a not-nice dragon surviving, (b) Finny joined up with Zemo, (c) Finny somehow merged with Andrew Dean, with Dean becoming the new dominant personality, and the dragon became a nice guy; (d) Finny is the first person to join the Lair Legion after their foundation. Is that right? 3. Some background on Visionary and Cheryl’s occupations before they got involved with the LL. Cheryl was an engineer before she took up LL PR-ing, right? 4. Banjoooo made his debut as King of the Sea Monkeys about this time. Have we ever established how first contact was made, and what happened next? 5. The Dark Knight had been active for quite some years before the LL started. My understanding is that he was, in those days more than ever, thought of as a kind of urban legend. Most people didn’t believe he existed, right? 6. Is there an NTU-150 origin story knocking about, other than the notes in the old archive? 7. Did we ever work out where Lisa gets her summonsing powers from? 8. What’s Zemo’s timeline? I know he was around in the war, and presumably so was Heike? Did he have a period of suspended animation like the Red Skull in Captain America, to awaken in a new age, or has he been around continuously? When and exactly how did Heike get injured and frozen in that block of ice? 9. What’s the official origin of Donar these days? Is it still the one in the old archives? 10. How did Yo first come to Earth? 11. Where was everyone else’s characters three and a half years before the present time? What were they doing? How can I somehow hook them into this story? 12. Does anyone have a copy of the first appearance of Peter von Doom? That should sort out Year One Part One. After that it gets far more complicated.
