JBH #5, Technowar!
Off Centre Park, October 31st, 2001.
Several heroes are gathered after the evil vampire Dracu had been destroyed and the new potential threat, the Pumpkin King, has fled.
Kid Produce approaches Xander, "Is Jackie going to be ok?"
"Now that Dracu is gone forever, she should be her old self."
"Great! Pigeonman, Produce, lets get her to the hospital, to make sure all's well." Phantom Ghost Girl says to her friends.
"One moment Mam." Con Johnstantine calls. "The JBH functioned excellent tonight. I'd like to talk to you about making its status as a non-team permanent."
"I'm listening." PGG responds.
Johnstantine continues, "What I purpose is that your little team would form whenever there is a crisis. The membership would consist of whoever is needed at that time. There would be no official meetings or charter, just a group entity for emergencies. What do you think?"
PGG considers this, "Interesting concept. We've lost quite a few members recently. A few more and the team will collapse. Can you come to our headquarters to discuss it? Our next meeting was Thursday, but with all that's happened it's postponed for a month. Will that be ok?'
"That should be fine."
"Hey PGG! I have someone for you to meet." Amazing Guy, reserve member of the JBH calls to her. ManMan beside him.
"This is ManMan. MM, this is Phantom Ghost Girl. She's the leader of the JBH."
PGG speaks up, "Uh, AG? This really isn't a good time. We were just taking Jackie back to the hospital to get her checked out."
"Oh! Jeez! I forgot about that. Is she ok?" AG asks.
"She seems fine. She's over there with Dancer. But we need to be sure."
"Well let's go! I'll open a Multiversal portal to take us there."
"Hey AG? Mind if I tag along? Xander said I was fine and not a werewolf anymore, but I just want to be sure."
"That's fine."
Soon Amazing Guy, Pigeonman, Kid Produce and ManMan are in the hospital waiting room.
Amazing Guy: "So Pigeon, you didn't have to be here. We've got things handled."
Pigeonman: "Human, I am here because a team mate is hurt. I can do no less."
Amazing Guy: "Aw. I didn't know you cared."
ManMan: "So the doctor is clueless. See Carrot boy, Xander was mysterious about the wolf bite and now the doctor is clueless."
Kid Produce, brooding, constantly looking at the door that Jackie went through, "Kid Produce."
ManMan: "What?"
Kid Produce: "Kid Produce. The names Kid Produce."
ManMan: "That's what I said."
Knifey, ManMan's talking knife, "No Joe, you said Carrot boy."
Joe Pepper, the ManMan, now replying to his belt groin area, "No. I said Kid Carrot. Like the kid said."
Jasper Stevens, Kid Produce: "Kid Produce." Jasper sees the female friends coming through the door and jumps up and joins them, "How is she?" he asks to PGG and Dancer then to Jackie, "How ARE you?"
Jackie: "I'm fine. I'm fine! At first the doctors instruments were having difficulty finding a pulse or heartbeat, but soon it came in clear."
"That's a relief!" AG replies.
"Ok everybody! Let's give her some room. We'll be having a meeting in a month. Dancer, ManMan, both of you are welcome to join us. We could use some new members." Tonya Wazzo says.
Dancer: "Well, I'm honored, but I'm a card carrying member of the JBH. Still, it would be fun to see how a different team acts. Ok, I'll come."
ManMan: "I told AG that I'm not really a joiner, but I guess I could give it a try."
PGG: "Great! See you then!"
Tonya Wazzo's apartment, February 2002.
"That was back in October. How can time fly so fast?"
Tonya thinks to herself as she looks outside the window. She sees those other dimensional Science Heroes flying through the streets of Paradopolis.
They've been in the city for a very short time, but already several heroes have been attacked. All communications with Vessel has been cut off. *
* Vessel is the JBH's sintenent starship and headquarters.
Her plans today?
To bring back the members of the JBH to help free the world.
"When we met for that meeting, Jackie and Jasper showed up. AG came too. I think he feels guilty for leaving the team. Dancer and ManMan showed up too. No sign of Johnstantine though.
Then we got kidnapped like amateurs by some creep called the Florist. We wound up in the Morshlock tunnels. After all was said and done, Dancer and Manny went their separate ways and we were down to the four of us again. Pigeonman seems to have disappeared into his life.
Why can't I keep this team together?
Why do I care?"
Tonya looks at her costume before putting it on.
"Who am I kidding? I miss the Legion. I was a member of the Lair Legion of Super Heroes for a couple of years before I became stuck here."
She thinks private thoughts about her love, Ultrathunder Boy and how this last year that she's been in the 21'st century, her feelings for him have slowly faded. She wonders what would happen if she saw him again.
That's when the front door is blown in.
A secret headquarters, where a figure watches his underling report through a wall mounted viewer.
"The Science Heroes have broken into Phantom Ghost Girl's apartment and are trying to apprehend her." Snyder, Tonya's custodian replies.
"Fine. I will rely on further information from my spies among the Science Heroes. Return to your duties."
The shadowy figure looks to another screen. A world is becoming engulfed in plaid entropy. Its people and surroundings engulfed.
"The destruction is approaching rapidly. I had hoped to wait a little further before acting, but there isn't time."
The evil mastermind turns and looks at two sets of lighted pictures. The first set shows individual pictures of Visionary, CrazySugarFreakBoy!, Lisa, Cap, Phantom Ghost Girl, Fin Fang Foom, Cheryl, Goldeneyed, Exile, Pigeonman 1, Nats, Dancer, Yo, Troia 215, Sorceress, Amazing Guy, Non More Black, De Brown Streak, Kid Produce, ManMan, Hatman, Granny Flag, NTU 150, Lisette, spiffy, Banjoooo, Al B Harper, Donar, Jackie Rabbit, Dynamite Boy, Captain Astounding, Ziles, Falcon, Hunter Victorious, dull thud, Pigeonman 2, Icewing, Sir Mumphrey Wilton and Chronic.
"I have agents watching all of these. It seems my agents will have to give them the choice."
The other set of lighted pictures shows the Dark Knight, Messenger, Swift, Cobra, Pegasus, Jack Rabbit, Xander and Premier.
"The Dark Knight and Cobra seem to kill every agent I sneak into their lives. Messenger died yet I've heard reports. They are unconfirmed though. Jack Rabbit is far in space. He won't be of use to me. But my agent covering him, she can serve me later if my plans go wrong. Pegasus and Premiere haven't been assigned a spy yet. Xander's spy keeps vanishing. Finally that leaves Swift.
It's a shame Plantgirl was discovered as one of us. There's no point reassigning him. He's too far-gone, trying to hide from life. He's not worth it.
I feel like there is someone I missed. That Shaggoth creature? No, better to leave him out of it. Who?
Wait.
How could I be so absent-minded?
Trickshot! Ah that fool. He's as much a problem to me as he was the first time we met.
Useless. I'll have one of my agents just kill him.
Not bad. With that many given the choice there will be plenty choosing my option. Then will I have the tools to take the power I need.
Soon everyone will learn that no man stops the ManManHunters!"
Tonya doesn't waste time as she grabs her costume and phases through the floor. In the adjoining apartment she puts her costume on, much to the delight of the surprised teenage boys watching.
She winks at them and phases to the outside.
Once there she's slammed into a wall by a Phaseatronic Pule Cannon from the Science Heroes waiting outside.
"Come on lady. Do you really think we weren't briefed on your powers?" Electronoose asked.
As PGG starts to slowly get up she hears Jasper's voice, "PGG don't get up! They'll just smack you down again."
Tonya raises her arms in surrender noticing that the black eye Kid Produce sports shows that he knows what he's talking about. Jackie Rabbit is beside him, also in shackles. She wishes as the science heroes move closer with the shackles that Amazing Guy and Pigeonman were there. But the Multiversal hero is some where in Washington State fighting one of these creeps and the Thonggarian policeman was missing along with Vessel.
Earth has a vibrating repulsor barrier around it thanks to Technopolis. No matter what Vessel does, it can't send communications or weapons through. In fact ever sence the moment the city arrived all the ship has gotten has been static.
This has frustrated it's sole resident.
"By the moons of Thonggar! What is going on down there?" Pigeonman demands.
Vessel's depressed female voice speaks up, "Don't ask me. I don't know why you're bothered about it. Nobody ever talks to me anyway. It's HALLIE they want. HALLIE this, and HALLIE that. Maybe if I had a sexy holographic body, the heroes would talk to me but.."
"SHUT UP! I've had enough! Can you teleport me down there?"
"Sure. If you want to leave me all alone that's ok. I'm used to it. I can't bring you back though. That field won't let me. Typical."
"Fine, fine! Just send me to Phantom Ghost Girl's apartment. Maybe she'll be.."
He vanishes in a teleportation beam and reappears right in front of three hundred Science Heroes, two captives and one almost captive heroine.
"There. Wha?" Pigeonman asks as he ducks a blast from a Science hero.
"Perfect timing Pigeon!" PGG says as she side kicks the on coming Science heroes, then phases through Produces and Jackie's shackles.
"What's going on?" Pigeonman asks while clobbering a Science Hero with his Electromace.
"Earth was invaded by a city from another dimension." PGG explains while phasing through various trchnoarmor, short circuiting it and shocking the occupants.
"Their fast, strong, have lots of powers_" Kid Produce explains while throwing razor sharp carrots into his opponents.
"And their butt ugly!" Jackie quips while bouncing on several Science Heroes, causing them to shoot each other.
A wave of pure crono energy hits KP, PM and JR, knocking them to their knees. The blow misses PGG.
A Science Villain steps into view. She sees that he was responsible, "Great. Another looser." She says defiantly.
"Your crono aura is different my dear. You're not from here." The Science Villain notices.
"What are you talking about?" Tonya asks as she helps her friends up.
"Ah, excuse my rudeness. I'm the Time Surveyor and my power is to feel time. I am in fact one with time. And my powers tell me you don't belong. Please leave."
A wave of chronic energy passes harmlessly through the Science Heroes and three of the JBH members, but when it hits Phantom Ghost Girl she is simply no more.
The three heroes have no time to mourn as a portal of Multiversal energy pulls them in.
Jackie Rabbit, Kid Produce and Pigeonman realize right away where they are.
Amazing Guy must've sent for them because he's getting the crap kicked out of him by a Science Villain called Thermonuclear Man.
With a silent nod, the heroes join in the battle.
Seven hours later Jackie has a twisted ankle, Pigeonman a broken arm and singed wings, Kid Produce was unconscious and Amazing Guy was very weak. These four heroes had just defeated Thermonuclear Man at the cost of landscape, farms and innocent people's sight (this last part haunts Jackie's thoughts).

These beaten, bruised but otherwise triumphant heroes are then captured and taken into custody by the mind controlled Science Hero called Steel Enforcer and his Science Police.
It was an uneventful trip to Technopolis and the dreaded Basement 13, where people are bended to the Red Watchman's will.
Elsewhere, across the Multiverse, on an Earth where humanity has risen to utopian heights, but at the cost of the peoples originality.
"Is he ok?" Andrew Dean asks his wife of eleven years.
"Yes my love. Something scared our little one. A nightmare perhaps. He's back to sleep though." Ziles answers.
Andy kisses her and then kisses his sweet little boy. He then looks out at the many futuristic saucer like buildings. Each one suspended thousands of miles from the ground by long pole like structures.
Such a beautiful city. Such a beautiful world. It's hard for him to fathom that both he and his wife were aliens at one time.
Thankfully that's changed now.
Now there is nothing but peace and hope in his life.
Aboard the Lurker's hexagonal craft, the creator of this ship watches the Dean family with interest.
"Sleep little one. Your day is not yet."
"MORE TEARS DAMMIT!" Dr Urvan commands.
Her loyal subjects rush the bucket of freshly gotten tears to her as fast as their legs can carry them.
Their reward? To be thrown against the wall.
"It took you long enough!" she complains as she gulps down the results of those prisoners.
Ever sence the Red Watchman cloned this Science Council member's body, she has found that her ruthlessness has grown a ten fold. Unfortunately she has also gained an addiction to drinking the tears of her victims.
Those victims? The many tortured souls kept here in Technopolis at Basement 13.
"My lady, Steel Enforcer has just brought more of this world's Science Heroes into the cells under the White Room. Would you like to examine them?"
"Yes. This world has such interesting specimens. Go! Fetch them!"
The cells are cold and unforgiving. With the collars neutralizing their powers and the shackles tying their arms behind them, Jackie Rabbit, Kid Produce and Pigeonman are herded into the cell.
Any resent captives have had to share cells after Premier flew off with the main science villain holding cells.
After the guards have left, two other prisoners' head over to the captive heroes.
"Jackie? Junior Tomatoboy? It's me! ManMan! They took Knifey and stuck me in here."
"Joe? Hey! I'm glad you're alive! They took AG to meet Red Watchman and Tonya_.." Jackie can't finish so Jasper does for her, "They killed her Joe. Just like that."
All are silent for a moment then Manny speaks up, "They took Falcon to meet the Watchman too."
"ManMan, who is this with you?" Pigeonman asks.
"Oh! Sorry. I'm being rude. This is Justin. He says he's from the future and that they took his time machine."
Justin Tyme says "Er, hello."
"Nice to meet you Justin. I don't suppose you could tell us how all this will turn out?" Jackie asks.
Before Tyme can answer a guard returns, "Ok. You three and those two. Dr Urvan wants to meet you. Now!"
To be concluded as the JBH, ManMan, Justin Tyme and a couple of others have to retrieve Justin's device, Knifey and other things as well as escape.
