Sub-Plots to Worry About, Summer 1951

Chillwater Street – the Club’s traditional site is missing, somewhere extraplanar. Wherever it is, it’s carrying the entrance of the Web of Time (q.v.) with it, and it’s armed and dangerous.

Anton Caradoc – after the downfall of his plans to destroy the Lych, but his successful murder of the Lych’s longtime emissary Delamonde of the Delights, the now-undead Caradoc dwells in perpetual agony and is pressed into service as Qualius’ agent.

Etienne Fauçonburg – he was last seen being swallowed by the mists of Ravenloft. And he can still command Genevieve to do whatever he wants. And it’s still not clear why he raised her in the way he did anyway.

The Black Librarian – the Club’s last recollection of taking him on was them plane-shifting to his base in Pandemonium for a showdown. They awoke later with no memory of what happened.

The Dreamlands situation – Melasquaen Thought Priests and Mind Flayers were corrupting the human subconscious through dreams, until the Monster Hunters, Qualius, and the Princess Quaelina all took a firm view of this. Neither Thought Priests nor Dreamlands Mind Flayers will be a problem again, although the Club did misplace their Chillwater Street clubhouse while resolving this situation.

Baba Yaga – seems to want her alumni back (that’s the D’Aosta twins). Magda might go in their place.

The Assassins of the Mountains of the Everlasting – after centuries off plane they’re back again. As soon as they’ve adjusted to modern life and assault weapons they’ll come out of hiding. Aida al Qudra is one of their best assassins, currently exiled and at large in the world after Aveyard charmed her into letting them go last time. She was last seen chatting with Revell in that pub he owns.

The Soviet Occult Directorate – Dr Krazdy Igomenkoff, head of this agency, has recently been captured and is being held for interrogation by the British Grey Operations. An attempt by beautiful KGB agent Katrina Natalia Katinova to free or kill him has been thwarted.

The Web of Time, an extraplanar prison where a number of Monster Hunters, their retainers, and their enemies are frozen in shards of eternity. It has also been said that Magda Maledicta [Jo Morton’s character] is the key to the gate to this place.

The Shadow Fiend Invasion of Earth – the Shadow Empress Ligeia has big plans for us all. She has at least three factions backing her, each led by another Lord of Shadow.

That’s a lot to worry about, isn’t it? What a relief that Qualius the Lych has been so quiet recently…
